I know its only a few weeks since I talked about my first pair of Sewoverit Ultimate Trousers but this pattern has been a life-saver for Me Made May so I wanted to show off my latest versions!
May this year has been largely wet and cold so far and I haven’t had a chance to get out the dresses I wore last year so finally having some trousers has been a big win.
After all the adjustments I made to the pattern while making my first pair I felt confident enough to cut out two more pairs. I did take the precaution of basting the side seams together first to test the fit which was a good decision because both pairs were different from the first and from each other!
My first pair are green stretch velvet from Clothspot. This is such a summery colour! I cut the legs a bit shorter this time. The fabric has quite a lot of stretch and I ended up taking the side seams in quite a bit.
On this pair I found that I had excess fabric at the front again. I increased the scoop at the front crotch but you can still see this at the front and as they relax when I wear them all day the bagginess becomes more obvious. I think I could cut the front slightly smaller if I used a similar fabric in future.
The second pair is a very dark blue stretch cotton sateen from Clothspot. The fabric is medium weight and the stretch is much less than the green fabric. This meant that I ended up having to reduce the seam allowance (after being over-confident and cutting slightly smaller than the green pair!) This pair are slightly too tight when I first wear them but as they relax over a day the fit is good and they are perfect for work.
So – for now at least – I have filled the trouser-shaped hole that I have been aware of since Me Made May last year! These three pairs will get a lot of wear over the summer and I may make a couple of full length pairs when we get to autumn.
Today I am wearing these with my white Capital Chic Bellini shirt so you can see the trousers more clearly but mostly I have been wearing them with long, loose tee shirts and my Archer shirt View B so of course now I want more longer tops and shirts.
There is always another wardrobe hole it seems!

Ahhhh, Louise, you’ve conquered pants!!! I missed your first post and will have to go back and read it to get all the details. I’m really impressed with your work here. Pants are so hard to fit, and you seemed to have worked out all the kinks! I’m jealous!! 🙂 Congrats on two great pairs. I’m glad to hear they’ve been filling a wardrobe hole for you this May. Keep up the great work!

Thankyou! I’m ridiculously pleased with them because buying trousers that fit is really hard! They aren’t perfect but they are wearable and comfortable and until.summer gets here I will be wearing them regularly!

I like the pants. I always seem to need trousers as well, and I get ambitious with buying fabric to make them. However they are really tough to make and fit properly. These look great!

Thankyou – this pattern is a really good basic trouser as you don’t have to worry about fly front or waistband or pockets! It took me a few goes to work out fit but I am really pleased with the results!

Nice job on the pants. They can be so fussy to get right! I have found some holes in my wardrobe – I am working on them though. MMMay can be great for organizing that.

They are fab!! I have found that with each pair of trousers I make in different fabric they all need tweaked a bit more, why can’t all fabrics just magically behave the same 🙂
